Learning and WellBeing Centre

Gindaja Treatment & Healing Indigenous Corporation Learning and WellBeing Centre is to develop and coordinate community awareness around prevention and intervention relating to alcohol and substance abuse.

It will be the first point in contact through the referral process for admission and after care to Gindaja Treatment and Healing Centre.

The Drop In Centre is located in the town area and a number of our officers are situated there. They include a Community Alcohol Prevention Officer, (2) Community Support Workers, Mens Support Worker and Community Justice Coordinator.

The centre initiative is to create the following;

  • Self and Community Awareness
  • Prevention & Intervention
  • Counselling
  • Empowerment & Motivation
  • Healthy life skills And opportunities

Our aims and objectives is to promote awareness in alcohol and other drugs misuse in the community, referrals, advocacy, validate and support clients, assist and motivate clients in culturally appropriate educational programs relating to social and emotional health and wellbeing and networking with Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders.

Outreach Services are conducted in various locations in the community;

  • Schools
  • Community events
  • Local Organisations
  • with Families
  • and Individual

The centre  officially opened in July, 2009 and is located at Lot 632 Workshop Street, Yarrabah which is behind Gurriny Yealamucka Social and Emotional Health Office and our office hours are Monday to Friday, 8am – 5pm.
